BODI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

As part of activities marking Ghana’s 66th Republic Day Cleanup Exercise and National Sanitation Day, the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of the Bodi District Assembly, in collaboration with the Bodi Senior High School Cadet Corps and other stakeholders, organized a cleanup exercise at the Bishop Anglonby Memorial Clinic in Bodi in the early hours of Saturday, 6th June 2026.

The exercise brought together key stakeholders, including the District Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Baidoo, the District Coordinating Director, Alhaji Haruna Nkansah, staff of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit personnel, Assembly staff, and members of the Bodi Senior High School Cadet Corps.

The participants undertook various sanitation activities aimed at improving environmental cleanliness within and around the health facility. Activities carried out included:
• Weeding overgrown areas within the facility.
• Sweeping the compound and surrounding areas.
• Picking and proper disposal of litter and other waste materials.

Addressing participants during the exercise, the District Coordinating Director, Alhaji Haruna Nkansah who spoke on behalf of DCE, Hon. Stephen Baidoo, commended all stakeholders for their commitment to environmental cleanliness and urged residents to make sanitation a daily responsibility rather than an occasional activity.

The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit emphasized that maintaining clean healthcare environments is essential for preventing disease outbreaks, promoting public health, and creating a safe and healthy atmosphere for both patients and healthcare workers.

The Bodi District Assembly expresses its appreciation to all participants and stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the exercise and encourages the public to continue adopting good sanitation practices to promote a cleaner and healthier district.
