The Statistics Department is established at the MMDAs as per the second schedule of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act (936).
The Department aspires to provide reliable and responsive statistical services for good Governance and Development.
The Core mandate of the Department is to collect, compile, analyze, interpret, publish, and disseminate socio-economic data for the Assembly.
Functions:
- Participate in the collection, compilation, processing, and ensure efficient analysis of data for publication.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and update statistical records/information.
- Participate in the development of data collection instruments.
- Day-to-day management of the department’s database.
- Ensures developmental of the capabilities, skills, and knowledge of staff.
- Undertake monthly market readings on selected goods and services from designated market centers in the district for the computation of CPI, PPI, and PI
- Promote statistical literacy and Research.
- Advice the assembly on all matters relating to statistics.
Services Provided:
The Department strategically provides data for stakeholders and other users upon request for developmental purposes.
